1st Place

Timo Zilz

Quiraing Cloud - 2022 Votes

Winning - £1,000 in cash and a 2-night break for two at Kinloch Lodge on Skye.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III | f/18 | 4 sec | 19mm | ISO-100

What the judges say
This view of the Quiraing is well known by photographers, but the low cloud pouring over the ridge like a giant wave is something very special. The use of a long exposure to capture the movement in the cloud is the key ingredient to the success of this image. The rock in the centre of the frame known locally as the Shark’s Fin lives up to its name here, peaking out of the sea of fog to reveal the iconic shape.

2nd Place

Flowover - 1560 Votes

Winning - Globepac 55 litre rucksac (Worth £180).

Canon EOS 6D | f/11 | ½ sec | 16mm | ISO-100

What the judges say
We love the contrast in tones and mood of this shot, with the Cuillin in deep shadow and the soft light on the foreground. The sea pouring over the rock has been captured perfectly, giving the impression of a small river cascade. It invites the viewer to linger on the shot to work out what is going on.

3rd Place

Wojciech Kruczynski

Coruisk - 1056 Votes

Winning - A 20x24” C-Type print of your entered image (worth £50).

SONY | f/16 | 184 sec | 16mm | ISO-800

What the judges say
One of the most remote locations on the island to get to is this viewpoint of Loch Coruisk. Anyone who makes it here for dawn or dusk deserves a medal for their effort, but this view was undoubtedly the ultimate reward. The warm pastel hues on the bare rock contrast well with the tropical coloured waters, with the dramatic sky completing the picture. Who wouldn’t want to be on that yacht moored in the bay?
